AnyKhata is a digital khata (ledger) app built for Indian small businesses — tea stalls, parlours, local shops. This policy explains exactly what data we collect, why we collect it, and how we protect it. We believe you deserve plain language, not legal fog. If anything here is unclear, contact us directly.
Who We Are
AnyKhata is developed and operated by Luner-X, based in Mehsana, Gujarat, India.
This app is published on Google Play under the Luner-X developer account. For any privacy-related questions, contact us at the email address at the bottom of this page.
What Data We Collect
We only collect data that is necessary for the app to function. Here is everything we collect:
Account information
- Your Gmail address and display name (collected via Google OAuth login)
- A unique user ID generated by our authentication system
Business information (if you register a business)
- Business name, type, and description
- Business photo (uploaded to Cloudinary, a cloud image service)
- A 6-digit link code used by your customers to connect to your khata
Customer and transaction records
- Customer names you add to your khata
- Daily transaction entries: amounts given (credit) and amounts received (payment)
- Transaction dates stored as text strings (YYYY-MM-DD format)
Device data (offline sync)
- Pending transaction entries stored temporarily in a local SQLite database on your device while offline
- This data syncs to our servers automatically when internet is restored and is then cleared from local storage
Advertising data
- AnyKhata displays ads via Google AdMob. AdMob may collect device identifiers and usage data to serve relevant ads. This is governed by Google's own privacy policy.
Why We Collect It
- Gmail address and name — to identify your account and display your profile
- Business information — to create and display your business khata to linked customers
- Transaction records — the core function of the app; tracking credit and payment between you and your customers
- Business photo — to personalise your business profile visible to customers
- Local SQLite data — to allow the app to work offline and sync when connectivity returns
- AdMob data — to show relevant advertisements that fund the free operation of this app
Where Your Data Is Stored
Your account, business, customer, and transaction data is stored on Appwrite Cloud, hosted in the Singapore (sgp.cloud.appwrite.io) region.
Business photos are stored on Cloudinary servers.
Offline pending entries are stored locally on your device only and are deleted after successful sync.
How We Protect Your Data
- All communication between the app and our servers uses HTTPS encryption
- Customer financial records are protected by row-level security — only the business owner and the linked customer can access their own data
- Authentication is handled entirely by Google OAuth — we never store your Google password
- The delete account function permanently removes your auth account and all associated data
- Deleted records are soft-deleted (marked as removed) and purged from our systems on a scheduled basis
- No API keys or sensitive credentials are exposed in the app's code or environment
What We Never Do
- We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to any third party
- We do not share your customer records or transaction history with anyone outside your account
- We do not use your financial transaction data for advertising targeting
- We do not collect data from children — this app is not directed at users under 13

AnyKhata uses the following third-party services. Each has its own privacy policy:

Your Rights
You have full control over your data:
- Access — all your data is visible directly inside the app
- Correction — you can edit your business details, customer names, and transaction entries at any time
- Deletion — use the "Delete Account" option in Profile settings to permanently delete your account and all associated data. This cannot be undone.
- Data portability — contact us if you need an export of your data
Changes to This Policy
If we make significant changes to this privacy policy, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For major changes that affect how your data is used, we will notify you inside the app.
Continued use of AnyKhata after changes are posted means you accept the updated policy.
